The end of normal

I don’t use pens. Pretty much all my line work is pencil. I have a very heavy hand so it comes out pretty dark and crisp. Also using pencil allows me to be more fearless with my mark making allow for more movement and flow in the work. Plus it cuts down on time spent per page which is a must when you deal with a lot of detail.

So yeah I just use cheap HB mechanical pencils. That way I never have to worry about loosing them or finding replacements on short notice. 


Finally starting to speed up on the colouring. I feel really productive this week. The convention at the weekend got me feeling good about drawing and I’m now swimming 5 times a week and eating way healthier.  View Larger

colouring eats so much time… Still I wanted that restricted palette with muggy warm colours. Randomly I loved the spearmint of the type, it was going to be yellow but I hit this colour whilst twiddling with the Hue/Saturation. View Larger

Another moleskin page while I’m at Bristol comic con. It’s nice to doodle like this, reminds me of when I first started roleplaying as a kid and felt that every single piece of adventuring kit had to have a cool name and a backstory. Cause as a kid my pocket money bought very little, while the gold I made by killing river ogres was spent freely on the most amazing stuff. Not many kids had an enchanted double-crossbow… View Larger
