Hi, I was wondering what the best way to find your own style would be? To put something into your art that makes it unique? from wewalkoutlikelions
I can’t really speak for eveyone but for me it’s about self analysis. I read alot, I mean crazy amounts comics, manga, novels as well as devouring TV shows and movies and everytime I fan boy out or am moved or impressed I try to think of it in terms of what it is that speaks to me. Then I don’t try to emulate that person but rather how I can work to create the same impact in my own personal way. I’m quick to pick what it is that left an impression be it use of scale or setting. The way someone’s characters interact.
When I was young I picked up a double collected of Tin Tin (Seven crystal balls/Prisoners of the sun) from the library. I was needless to say blown away with it but as a kid I wasn’t to sure why it was better then other things I read at the time. Until I got to the back of it, it had a section at the back looking at how Herge created a setting through world building and layouts. So when I came to start drawing my own comics I had ideas what I wanted the art to do but was still free to let it evolve my style.
I guess, I’m not really great at explaining myself and I do ramble… though I did eventually buy that copy from the library.
